Eventful Day For James Buescher At Nashville
LEBANON, Tennessee (August 13, 2008) - - Win-Tron Racing (WTR) announced earlier in the week that James Buescher would drive the teams No. 32 entry at Nashville Superspeedway this past weekend and while Buescher had no prior experience at the 1.33-mile speedway, Bueschers impressive day in the TOYOTA ARCA 150 would end short with a 17th place finish.
Buescher, taking the wheel of the Kevin Cywinski-owned Dodge Charger climbed into the Win-Tron Racing automobile for the weekends lone practice session looking for the ideal setup. During the three-hour practice session, Buescher and crew chief Mike Chaffee played with the set-up of their Mercedes Homes-Red Line Oil sponsored machine looking for the perfect grip for the Plano, Texas native under the hot steamy concrete.
At the conclusion of practice, the teams hard work paid off with Buescher securing the eighth fastest lap mounting a time of 29.863 seconds at 160.694 MPH.
The Win-Tron Racing car is pretty good, said Buescher. The team was able to dial in their notes from their open test and we were able to make some adjustments that made our car better. I think well have a good car for qualifying.
ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying was set for Saturday morning with Buescher ready to go. During his two lap run on Saturday morning, the talented driver maneuvered his Win-Tron Racing machine around Nashville Superspeedway to a time of 29.577 seconds at 162.248 MPH; good enough for inside row number two, position number three.
Were happy with that, said Buescher after time trails. Im really proud of the guys on the team for giving me a great racecar. Were starting up front and hope to stay there Friday afternoon.
At the start of the TOYOTA ARCA 150, Buescher quickly showed that he had a fast racecar. Up through the gears quickly, Buescher had eyes on second before the caution flag would fly just after completing the first lap. As the cars entered turn one, contact with Buescher and other competitor found the No. 32 backwards on the track but with no damage.
Frustrated on just what happened, crew chief Mike Chaffee reminded his driver to keep calm and they had plenty of time to come back to the front. Ducking down pit road during the caution, the crew changed four tires and added fuel sending their driver back on track.
A few early cautions would keep the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver at bay holding comfortably inside the top-20.
With a long-span of green flag racing flowing after three early race cautions, Buescher was on the move and heading towards the front. Dealing with a tight racecar, Buescher was showing patience and maturity while guiding his machine into the top-15 with 40 circuits complete.
With the caution coming out approaching lap 50, Buescher came down pit road with the rest of the leaders for four tires and fuel with the team ready to go for the remainder of the event.
On the restart, Buescher continued to charge back towards the front and would find himself into the top-10 on lap 52. Buescher would continue to maintain his position inside the top-10 until a caution waived inside 10 laps remaining which would force a late-race restart.
Continuing to hover inside the top-10 with eight laps remaining, Buescher would maintain the top-10 run until the white flag lap when the No. 32 and the No. 37 came together with the two drivers finding themselves hard into the wall. Both drivers were able to drive away from the incident.
Buescher brought the No. 32 machine to the attention of his team where they were able to beat out the fenders and send Buescher back to take the checkered flag. Buescher survived the green-white-checkered restart to collect 17th.
Its disappointing because we thought we get away with a top-10 finish despite our early race incident, said Buescher. I want to thank Win-Tron Racing for the opportunity to drive at Nashville and Im sorry we didnt get the finish that we should have earned. Well be back together soon and well try again.
Win-Tron Racings Nate Thiesse offered his thoughts on Nashville; James did a great job. We were able to recover from our early race misfortune and thought we had a top-10 finish but a late race entanglement changed the finish. Thats racing. Well move on to the dirt next weekend and hope for another good run.
Round 15 on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedules sends the teams to the Illinois State Fairgrounds for the first of two dirt events this season. The Allen Crowe 100 is set for Sunday, August 17 with the green flag to waive shortly after 1:00 p.m. |
