Successful NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Entry For Win-Tron Racing
DOVER, Delaware (May 30, 2009) - - Despite the finish, Win-Tron Racing had an exceptional debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at Dover International Speedway with veteran driver Scott Wimmer behind the wheel of the No. 31 Wolfpack Rentals Chevrolet Silverado.
After enjoying monstrous success in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, the Lakeville, Minnesota based team was ready for their next major leap in the auto racing scene and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is where they landed.
After tapping veteran and proven driver Scott Wimmer as their wheelman, the team had high hopes for the AAA Insurance 200. After practicing solidly in the top-20, the team under the direction of crew chief Mike Chaffee made several changes to give Wimmer a hotrod for the teams inaugural debut. The team qualified 24th but that isnt where they stayed.
From the drop of the green flag, Wimmer, making just his second ever start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series began mowing through the field and found himself flirting inside the top-five and contending for the lead.
Quickly proving their worth on the track, the team would encounter a hiccup in the later stages of the event which would erase the team from a potential winner but still honor the team with plenty of laps under their belt in one of the more thrilling NCWTS events this season.
The team finished 192 of the scheduled 200 laps and was credited with a 21st place finish.
By no means was our finish an indicator on how well we performed, said Nate Thiesse, car owner and general manager of Win-Tron Racing. I think it is clear that we proved to the teams in this series that we can compete here and be a contender. We had a bad break but we were able to overcome it and still take the checkered flag. Scott did a superb job and we cannot thank him for giving his all for us. Were looking forward to our next race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Future plans for Win-Tron Racing to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series are still forthcoming.
